In the 1800s, every ship in the British Empire was carrying a few cases of Gin Plymouth, for medicinal purposes, increasing the reputation of the distillery around the world.
Plymouth today is the only Gin in the world that has obtained the IGP (Protected Geographical Indication) qualification thanks to the production entrusted to the legendary Black Friars Distillery, which takes its name from the Dominican monastery present in Plymouth in 1432, the only distillery to be still active on site.
