Monty Collins, the British commander of the RAF, was sent to Berlin after World War II to rebuild Germany. In the Berlin zoo he sympathized with a little monkey which he gave the name of "Max". Having settled permanently in Germany, in the black forest, he started the production of Gin by mixing the Indian spices he had known in his youth, 47.In 2010 we owe to Christopher Keller, master distiller of Black Forest Distillers, the discovery of the old recipe together with a bottle of the distillate itself, on the label of which a nice little monkey had been drawn by hand, above which it was possible to read the words very clearly "Max the Monkey".
