Tanqueray is a brand of English gin marketed all over the world. The brand is owned by the British food company Diageo.

In 1830, Charles Tanqueray broke with tradition and, after a thorough study of herbs and several years of experimentation, defined the recipe for a gin and opened a distillery on Vine Street, in the Bloomsbury district of London, an area known at that time. period, for spring waters.

During the Second World War the distillery was almost completely destroyed. After the air campaign against London in 1941, only one of the stills (known as "Old Tom") survived, and is still used today at the Cameronbridge distillery in Scotland. Tanqueray gin is for the most part produced in Scotland, despite what the name "London dry gin" would indicate, which refers to the type of distillation process.
